The ingenious development of dental wedges

Limitations of traditional wedges
  • Often difficult to insert.
  • Can pierce the interdental gingival papilla.
  • Can be displaced by interproximal tissue, which is detrimental to the position of the contact point.
  • Usually eliminate the play along the matrix’ margin solely on the side on which they are inserted.
  • Are easier to drop.
 


 
  Older models of wedge were designed on the basis of achieving two objectives with just one type of wedge:
1. To create an adequate separation between the teeth to achieve a good contact point after the matrix is removed. This requires a very rigid and strong wedge.
2. To create a good adaptation of the matrix to the gingival margin. This requires a softer and more flexible wedge.

One wedge cannot comply with these conflicting requirements!

 


 
  The V-Ring sectional matrix system separates compliance with these conflicting requirements. The objective of the V-Ring is to create the required separation, while the V-Wedge has been developed specifically to achieve a good adaptation of the matrix to the cavity’s margin.

The V-Wedge is also equipped with an eye which can be gripped by TrioDent’s Pin-Tweezers.
