Wave Wedges

The Wave Wedge has a number of ingenious features which distinguish it from all other wedges available on the market.

  • Self-aligning.
The tapered point and the curved form guide the wedge through the interproximal space without piercing the interdental gingival papilla on the other side.
  • Self-adjusting seal.
The fine lateral winglets converge as they glide through the interproximal space, and then diverge again on the other side of the space. This simplifies the insertion of the Wave Wedge, and it provides for a broad, self-adjusting symmetrical seal along the matrix/gingival margin.
  • Self-locating.
The concave mid-section ensures that the Wave Wedge automatically ‘falls’ into place. This creates an optimum seal and positioning for the subsequent fitting of the V-Ring.
  • Offers space for the gingival tissue
The hollow V-shape under the Wave Wedge offers space for the gingival tissue. The winglets will usually allow the Wave Wedge to be drawn deeper into the interproximal space and, in contrast to many other wedges, it will not rise.
  • Reliable.
The integral eye guarantees an appropriate and reliable mechanical grip when fitting or removing Wave Wedges using ordinary dental tweezers or TrioDent’s patented Pin-Tweezers.
  • Three options
Readily identified by their colour: Small (white), Medium (pink) and Large (purple), made from acetyl for extra strength.

FUNCTION

Other wedges suffer from an evident conflict in their functions. Wedges need to be sufficiently rigid to separate the teeth and, simultaneously, need to be sufficiently soft and adaptable to achieve a seal between the matrix/gingival margin. The objective of the V-Ring of the V-Ring sectional matrix system is to achieve an effective separation of the teeth, and consequently the design of TrioDent’s wedge needs to focus solely on an optimum seal. The two components offer a combination of simplicity, ingenuity and synergy.

DESIGN

Anatomical design
The design of the winglets incorporates a wave that closely approaches the anatomical shape and achieves a broad gingival seal.
