The ingenious development of sectional matrix systems
The V-Ring is the first retainer ring for sectional matrix systems to be made from nickel-titanium. Its extreme elasticity offers the user an opportunity to insert the wedge either before or after fitting the ring.
In addition, it is also the only retainer ring that does not obstruct the wedge. All other sectional matrix systems (with the exception of TrioDent’s Tri-Clip) suffer from the problem that the wedges and retainer ring compete with each other for the interproximal space. This causes the wedge to deform and complicates fitting the retainer ring, which in some situations can even fly off.
The V-Ring offers the solution for this problem, since the V-shaped groove between the legs of its tines offers space for the wedge.
In addition, the V-Ring holds the sectional matrix in the position required to adopt a natural anatomical shape. This also prevents the matrix from springing back and leaving a gap.
The patent-pending unique V-shaped tines prevent the ring collapsing into wide cavities. Moreover the retention is excellent, since the tines grip tightly in the undercuts around the teeth on either side of the embrasure.
The adjacent image shows the contact point between UR6 and UR5 before and 3 minutes after fitting the V-Ring.
A 60-80 µ separation was achieved. The thickness of the Tab-Matrix is 30 µ.
